[00:06] Last message repeated 1 time(s). hmmm my bbrain must be tired i got the splits to work now and stop autocalcing stuff but its backwards? I like ultratiny panels help this kind of stuff drives me mad wsating too much time w/ it have a transaction i do a split put 1000 as income in deposit 100 as income as desposit then say take out 100 (withdraw) and what does the split want to do ? put 1000 in withdrawl when it should be 1000 in deposit sigh no one in gnucash on OPN? no irc.gimp.org yea I c you there dres willcome back soon Action: dres is back. well there ya go wb derek er, dres dres most odd my brain must be dysfunctional tonight if i do a split for a paycheck in an asset/checking ledger and i do deposit 1000 deposit 100 withdrawl 100 in the split lines it tries to create a 1000 withdrawl line when im expecting a 1000 deposit line and i notice it is doing flipped transactions in the other ledgers like income / expense so if i flip all my transactions it does ok should be doing these all as 'negatives' in the split? no. as that would probably fix it as well (or is my brain missing something obvious) shouldn't be using negatives in splits i flipped the two columns and seemed to get the desired result but it seems 'wrong' say you get a paycheck. you should withdraw X dollars from income account in one split and the second split in the transaction should have a deposit to checking. to get it to work i did this where xxx:yyy:zzzz xxx = account yyy = deposit zzzz: withdrawl income::1000 income::100 checkingaccount:1000: taxes:100: and it put 1000 in deposit of the line item (which is what i desired) but it seems 'wrong' to do a split this way did you run away? ok. so split 1: 1100 withdrawal from income account A split 2: 100 deposit to expense account (taxes) B split 3: 1000 deposit to checking account C is this about right? no. just having a conversation with the wife and you at once. yeah thats what i input to get what i wanted as 'end' result then it sounds right to me. What feels wrong to you? it appears to have put 4 transactions in my income account (which seems right) the 1000 and 100 as income and a 1000 and 100 for charge remember what is weird about this too me is not used to doing 'home' finances this way when i deal with the 2.5 billion dollars at work i dont have 'personal' attachment too it so i dont think of it outside formulas :) i guess what feels unnatural is the split i assumed was indicative of journal its in so i think of it as 1000 deposit to the journal 100 deposit to journal 100 withdrawl from journal to end up with 1000 credit in the end BUT i guess its because an 'income' account it needs to be a withdrawl in any event i got it to work just seems a little odd, maybe its a naming thing i think i did find a bug though when i selected accounts from spouse from your wizard it put all the 'tax' accounts under income for the spouse but it put all hte normal tax accounts under expense bug? maybe. I'm not sure what you are describing. probably better to write up an email and send it to gnucash-list@gnucash.org. nother bug if i say do Holiday Pay in the memo of a split (and probably elsewhere) then i want to do HOLIDAY it wont let me in another memo it converst HO into Holiday Pay even if i type HOLDIAY it converts it back to lower case yea. the auto complete is sometimes a bit aggresive. jcater (~jason@24.92.70.201) joined #gnuenterprise. howdy hmm... guess no one's home hi whatcha up to? checking my email you miss us that bad? ;) ooooh i c also testing out a checkbook program I found today k derek is using gnucash niw et tu, cw? yuck raeding stuff on packers.com reading even you better watch what you say about gnucash dres is listening ;) I didn't say anything about gnucash er, watching whatever I just said, yuck what is the yuck fer? that could be anything oh, sorry my bad ;) jcater: in many ways im pleasantly suprised w/ gnucash in many ways it pisses me off :) but it will do for now btw: what checkbook program did you get? lol I found a simply one I like cbb.sf.net psu (psu@manorcon.demon.co.uk) joined #gnuenterprise. it's very simple... a perl-based TCL/TK app should run on many platforms Rafterman eoopd silly autocomplete reinhard (~rm@N808P001.adsl.highway.telekom.at) joined #gnuenterprise. rofl this is for jamest int he morning (if he reads the backlogs ;) Alcohol and calculus don't mix.
