We don't have a benevolent dictator, but there is a salary paying junta. Our main goal is to provide support for SAP applications. So any new feature must at least not oppose this goal. was the 'short' answer but this last part had me roflmao -- > In other words, if we want to make sure work we do will get > to CVS, what do we have to do? Persuade Oracle to include the feature. This worked at least in the past ;-) -- that's just classic :) sledge / siesel : here is a free tool (nasty ole java) that might be some inspiration for what you all would like to do with gnue schema stuff http://squirrel-sql.sourceforge.net/index.php?page=screenshots.html it is very similar to pgadmin thx, looks quite ok. Just a bit overpowered :) I think the main goal of having a schema designer instead of f.e. pgaccess, is that you design a schema which will work on all databases which are supported by GNUe. I.e. it should be very easy to use, without providing too much db specific features i.e. if you just use GNUe tools for developing and creating your application you can move it from one type of database to another just with copying the data from one db to another this is possibly a bit too optimistic, but I would like that :) too optimistic? it's a requirement thats what we are looking for i woudl say something like sql squirrel woudl be ok, BUT im not going to ask someone to move to java :) something like pgaccess requires Tk plus is only postgres etc etc i dont think there is a good 'python' (xplatform) tool out there that we could just bolt on support for our schema stuff or i would say lets go that route i see GNUe as a real framework in that it shouldnt be a replacement to hardcore db management tools but certainly developers should be able to use the framework (so they dont have to learn something new and/or install more crap) i like it from the prospective of it should really help us a. increase power of python DBSIG b. increase functionality of our common dbdriver system :) maybe someday Zope or such might even consider using it :) hehe, that would be fun. can anyone reach http://www.linux4smallbiz.com/ ? nópe Site Error TALESError Sorry, a site error occurred Action: jcater is afraid to know what a TALESError is :) Action: dneighbo thought same thing :) i think its an alias to m$ active foo has encountered a general protection fault siesel (jan@dial-213-168-91-245.netcologne.de) left irc: "later" memmett (~user@142.179.170.188) joined #gnuenterprise. stbain (~stbain@66.207.65.76) joined #gnuenterprise. greetz ariel_ (~ariel@ppp-217-133-240-233.dialup.tiscali.it) joined #gnuenterprise. hi all.. made progress on my gnuenterprise app last night, but i'm still having problems with my master/detail form.. when i switch to a new master records (new as in, going to insert a new record) the detail remains as it was before i switched to the new record. i think it causing problems when i press F6, here's the log messages: DB005: [DBdriver:50] _postChanges: statement=INSERT INTO trips (id,kmin, kmout, type, date) VALUES ('105','10','11','1','july 3 2003') DB005: [GDataObjects:658] Preparing to post datasource dtspeopletrips DB005: [GDataObjects:683] Posting datasource dtspeopletrips DB005: [DBdriver:50] _postChanges: statement=UPDATE peopletrips SET memberid='-1' WHERE memberid='2' AND tripid IS NULL so you can see the master was inserted properly, but the detail wasn't... :( any suggestions? (ie, the detail should be INSERTed not UPDATEd) how odd what database driver are you using? psycopg are you using the fk_source, fk_key, and fk_descriptions to define the details? yes, the detail record is a pulldown using fk_* to lookup names.
