Does anyone here know much about the NOLA port to GNUe? a little dneighbo (~dneighbo@adsl-66.218.46.51.dslextreme.com) joined #gnuenterprise. dneighbo knows all though sup the usual Does anyone here know much about the NOLA port to GNUe? that was 5min ago, you've still got time to answer :) im here im here johnnyb: you still her er here sorry, yeah I'm here, just got distracted reading about the IE/SSL thing Surfing and chatting can be dangerous :) So, are you working on the NOLA port to GNUe? dneighbo: are you working on NOLA? he is Action: ajmitch pokes dneighbo awake yes working Is there anything functioning out of it yet? a few things Even if it's in an amorphous state? basically to start we cleaned up the code (directory structure and such) and fixed some no nos (jcater did this) then converted schema to postgres so didnt have to use mysql and have started to test those changes I'm really interested in NOLA running on PostgreSQL, and also somewhat interested in GNUe, although I don't know a lot about it yet. micahy was/is working on basically making gnue screens for the backend some of the account management stuff has screens Is NOLA going to run off of GEAS? if you want working postgres NOLA you can get it from our acclite (our nola cvs for now until we merge back our changes) eventually yes it would run off of GEAS though its not scheduled for our first round of 'goals' Sounds exciting. Is there a mailing list for this, specifically? nope we really dont want a fork at this point but NOLA hasnt adopted it so its 'limbo' for now It seems you already have one :) if we do a list and such it looks like we are brute forking it I see. johnnyb: well we had to do some RADICAL changes Of course, I'm one to like forks. But I'm odd that way. and more than one person was doing them so we needed it in cvs and until its tested and such they wont readily just accept a patch quite frankly its likely it will be fork as they may choose to not accept it though they seemed interested so we arent ruling it out **** NOTE TO ARTURAS ***** Do you know if NOLA is appropriate for use in the U.S.? Does it follow the U.S.'s accounting regulations? I would just like to inform that we now have some first functional Unicode support for wxGTK in CVS. You will need GTK 2.0 from www.gtk.org and some recent version of FreeType from www.freetype.org. Actually, I have not been able to setup freetype correctly myself so that printing still doesn't really work, but it compiles... In order to compile you need to "configure --enable-gtk2 --enable-unicode". You may expect compilation problems on systems other than my Linux glibc 2.2 system (and you need to add a link flag to -lpangoft2-1.0 to you linker) Any testing is welcome. *** END NOTE ARTURAS ***** yes its US based so follows US accounting practices Excellent! I'm starting work for a friend who does custom computer work, and I have blown him away so far with what Free software can do So we're working on a full GNU-based terminal product for use in small businesses An accounting package seemed a necessity, but I really hate MySQL Does anyone know which doc has the GNUe database schema docs?
