I would guess it's like CVS - fully functional with text files and the like (e.g. html) where it can do diff/patch magic cvs isn't entirely binary-safe though, right? but still usable for binary files such as Open Office as well ISTR that the only problems with CVS & binaries are if you have a mix of Win32 and *nix clients i wonder if OO.o's files would be easier to revision as pure xml rather than xml.gz as CVS tries to be "too clever" and adjust for ^Ms in binary files as well unless you tell it not to. ddttmm: undoubtedly, but I'm not aware of any way of making it mmmmm save as pure XML If so, please tell me, as I have a project I want to use OOo and CVS together on similarly, psu's irc client is optimizing for ^M by inserting carriage returns in totally random portions of sentences! "share and enjoy" i dunno but i'd imagine you could simple gunzip them, huh? yes, but I really want to be able to work in XML native - otherwise I have to a) do CVS check out b) re-gzip the files c) work on them well i just wonder if you can insert gzip/gunzip transparently in your cvs process d) re-ungzip the files e) check them in like in a single script that does ci/co I could probably bash together a simple script just wondering if anyone has already done something I could re-use Also, I have yet to look at what revision tracking OOo has inside itself anyway you should check openoffice.org and the associated mailing lists huh yeah, I know I just have this bad habit of using #gnuenterprise as my personal wiki/helpdesk h0h0 ninja (~rossg@ip-195-149-26-1.nildram.co.uk) joined #gnuenterprise. psu (psu@manorcon.demon.co.uk) left irc: Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer) laurie (~laurie@cpe-24-221-112-50.az.sprintbbd.net) got netsplit. Great Plains, for instance? If there's any. I mean for Small to Medium Business Discarding SAP, PeopleSoft and the alikes currently forms is almost feature complete to Oracle SQL*Forms product can replace Access (for applications *not query building*) reporter has no equals that i can tell (reportlabs (free software) might be the closest) but even BIG vendors like crystal reports and business objects dont really have a 'server' with caching and transformation like we do I see designer is similar to filemaker pro, delphi, powerbuilder or visual basic (only specific for business applications) app server would be similar to any app server on the market only with additional features that woudl be 'tool' comparisions aha dcl is similar to MANY free software applications like request tracker and such as similar to commercial applications like support magic or the likes acclite would be similar to netledger, sql*ledger etc the backend stuff is like nothing comparable in free software world that i know of and only the BIG end has it in the proprietary end by backend i mean shipping automation, warehouse management, order management etc etc etc uh huh great So you have a well defined roadmap hmmm. This is maybe a silly question. But which modules would you use to run a call center'? For inbound calls no we dont have a well defined roadmap it is next on the list oh. I see after the 0.4.0 release well you seem so sure of the mid and long term goals well having in head and having official roadmap are two different things most of the core team has an idea of what the road map is just some finer points arent ironed out and none of it is official down digitally for others to review Action: derek is away: softball Suit (~SFH@zeilers.demon.nl) joined #gnuenterprise. hello all, if I where to install the gnue packages in /opt/gnue would I get myself in a big trouble or is it just a case of changing setup.cfg and site.cfg? s/where/were KeithJagrs (jorgre@63.74.24.9) left irc: "later" Suit (~SFH@zeilers.demon.nl) left irc: "Client Exiting" KeithJagrs (jorgre@63.74.24.9) joined #gnuenterprise.
