Action: jcater hasn't used it though debian er debian->games->arcade->tuxtyping from debian menu it requires decent hardware as it a GL game but it rocks for teaching kids to type better gtypist is good for drills tuxtyping that's cool for here but he is at home on a p-233/win95 system that I built the kids years ago gack you make your kid use windows and you are only worried about his typing? it was the only way to keep people like you away from them apt-get install debianjr* er apt-get install junior-* and let them have at it "pssst, hey kid. I gotz some free software for you." <4 weeks late> "not until you's commits some code will you getz yer updates" if you buy something http://www.runrev.com/tenthumbs/index.shtml it runs on windows and linux so does tuxtype sos at least when your kid gets old enough to realize dad screwed him by putting on windows jamest: cool Action: jamest is wondering if she'll run on a p-233 Action: derek thought it might be python and sdl/opengl jamest: its really slow unless you have good video i.e. video is probably more important that processor i spent a buttload on that system and I think i'd get hurt if I upgraded what is now the ex's home computer rofl jamest: sometimes i wonder how you can be so smart yet be so dense.... you see you need to 'upgrade' the home pc so lindsay has the latest and greatest and instead of 'stockpiling' the boxes in the office you have decided to just kick down the old one to the kids lol i would but the problem is Action: derek notes if its like my house it wont matter as such a gesture will be seen as you are trying to get latest and greatest for yourself and .... ash.gnuenterprise.org offering to the wife is just offensive i slurped my last faster cpu my home file/db server is a p233 already sorry to ask this here it's quite offtopic and i don't want to offend anyone they said in the news yesterday here that 7 out of 8 u.s. americans aren't able to find iraq on a world map um wow i would say 7.8 out 8 really? i would likely get it wrong and i know geography fairly well i think it's south of beverly hills 90201 isnt' it? jamest: lol i would say that 7.8 out of 8 couldnt get it on a map and that 5 out of 9 could even get the proximity right i could at least point and say its one of these 3 or 4 countries dude i get iraq/iran etc all flipped around but i know where they are reinhard: the US is very geo-centric geography isn't a priority in schools reinhard: put it this way 9 of 10 americans couldnt list all 50 states as everything revolves around us there was a stufy once that said like 1 in 10 US high school graduates couldn't find the US on an unmarked globe didn't you know that? :) and 9.5 could list all the capitals give n the states er s/could/couldnt well now just a hint then derek: i can't list all the capitals jamest i could come close iraq is the country that's approximately shaped like the spot on monica levinski's dress but likely would fail ;-) j/k reinhard: rofl reinhard: here in the states the talkshow hosts (jay leno/david letterman) regularly put people out on the street to ask questions like what you are saying and they get the funniest answers like thtey will show a picture of the vice president (current) and ask 'who is this' and people say the funniest responses as they have no clue we have a vice president?
