How are you planning to adress that question? custom reports, custom ways of referencing accounts (of defining accounts) first of all gnue is set of tools that know nothing about accounting standarts i understand that tools are very useful by itselfs they allow me to incorporate specific practice as i want aife: don't you think accounting practice in russia looks like american? :) :) well, from what i know anglosaxon accounting practises are diferent from those of continental europe. and there is very active group of gnue developers from argentina in continental europe, the accounting system is defined by law (firstly by an european directive wich is tranlated to law in each eec country) then you can talk with reingard (austria) and few people from germany in anglosaxon countries i believe it is the accounting association that defines the standards reinhard reinhard, yes i belong to a group of people that as developed some interest in gnu-e, we are thinking about starting some kind of business around free software, and gnu-e has caught our eye but for example, in portugal for you to offer some kind of accounting program you have to certify it whith the government something like this may be valid for russia but there may be a huge range of situations where gnue may fit well without that problem yes. data migration for instance yes But there are business aplications that try to transcend national borders i have workde with some AS/400 software from Intentia (www.intentia.com) that provides a logical framework for business anywhere in the world. then in each country they localise it, they prepare a special module that enables the software to report and show data as in acordance to local standards. aife: I would think that is our goal transcend national borders? thats why we are all live here for:) we are trying to build a strong foundation with a good accounting package to go ontop however I doubt you will see "modules" for all these different nationalities w/their own rules until someone with intimate knowledge of that country steps forward and manages that process well i have some accountants in my group..
