Like generate reports in word format we have an RTF merge feature that I use a lot you create a template-like RTF file in word, or openoffice, etc and reports can populate that file (adding a page for each record, if appropriate) and return that rtf it doesn't deal with native .DOC format though neilt (~neilt@66.95.70.186) left irc: "Later all" Does it work with windows or linux server? I've only used on linux but I think it'd work on windows too as it's just a python-based setup is there an url about that RTF merge feature? or is it just included with GNUe appserver? jcater:///dev/brain/ heh :) no actually has nothing to do with appserver xetrex: it is included in GNUe report you could run it with appserver, but it isn't required there are examples in reports/samples, I think yeah, in mailmerge/ it's pretty simple you create an RTF file using your word processor of choice wherever you'd like a field substituted, just denote it as ::field:: e.g., you might have Dear ::firstname::, ok OpenOffice.org can create .doc files. I haven't found a way to script it though. I've wanted to dig into OpenOffice's UNO api but haven't had the time jcater: Is that corba? java? c++? it's OO own component technologoy, iirc I have been thinking about generating Openoffice xml file with code and then converting it somehow to word/excel file, that would be cool like moz's XPCOM or whatever corba-based, iirc There is a *cough* perl module for creating excel files. It works too. libspreadsheet-writeexcel-perl dsmith: can it change pre-made excel file cell values (excel file with graphs etc) ? xetrex: THere is libspreadsheet-parseexcel-perl, but I haven't tried it. The docs seem a bit sparse :) there's a getting started guide IIRC that's what I used IIRC the bit on tickets says (to be developed) ? so if i start with one simple question. how do i make the ticket list display more than 15 lines? there is a developers guide that is quite nice the best way is to ask as we have lots 'scheduled' so in some cases its better to ask us to up the schedule of things planned or submit patches than to 'customize' what i do.... is i create the report that say displays the tickets and then you get one of these 1 of 4 pages or such is this what you are asking about? and you want to make it 4 pages all in one long page? yes we use the browse tickets function ok with hi res displays 15 lines is a bit small if you click on any of the 'column headings' it should 'sort' by that column heading AND when we get 30 or 40 tickets per day to deal with make it all in one page Action: derek noticed this didnt work on 0.9.1 but had been working on prior releases it does not work in 0.9.3 either i use it daily (obviously i dont use 0.9.x yet in production) not in tree mode anyway not because its not worth using, but because i am still on postgres 6.5 at work :( havent had time to upgrade everything as its an old redhat 6.2 box i have new debian box with postgres7.3 ready to go we also need a way to merge tickets together is this planned yeeek just haven't made the 'migration' 6.2? no merges as of yet ack you can 'promote' and/or link promote? so what you can do is change a status to something that 'closes' the ticket then in the ticket do a dcl://ticket/23423 where 23423 is the 'reference' to the other ticket i.e. make an entry this is a duplicate of dcl://ticket/23423 and close the ticket then in ticket 23423 put entry see dcl://ticket/12344 for additional detail Action: neilt gets out the voodoo handbook i.e. usually you dont need to do second entry Action: neilt and starts to make notes i suspect you want to 'merge' as you have 'duplicates' so when you receive a duplicate ticket you close it and mark it duplicate with a reference to the 'ticket' that is being solved we have one email address for all issue reports because the email addr gets routed to 7 or 8 people they reply short hand iirc is dcl://ticket/number or dcl://workorder/number so we have many reponses to one issue and then when that gets displayed it does a hyperlink that is pretty i guess i dont get it you should have myproductsupport@mydomain.com any email that goes to that gets a ticket made automagically now 10 people can have 'watches' on that ticket but if they respond to the ticket they should be logging to that ticket if that makes sense your only 'duplication' should come if someone is or multiple someones continue to report the same problem Action: derek might be missing something but thats how we use it who's going to see matrix reloaded? ansd if you have seen it already shut your trap! ;) excellent, did not see that in the docs, but will give it a try tomorrow derek: we are in transition, we have several management types that just want to respond to email and get into the details of DCL dude it was awesome you have to watch the part where....
