It does in win 98, RH 7.3 and win XP I don't think debian installer autodetects ethernet cards like redhat, et al do That may be the prob. at some point in the install process, you have to select "Add additional modules" or "Select additional modules" or something like that load the driver into the kernel if it's not detected already yea, there's a screen to load modules in kreiszner: is debian installed right now? just no network? Action: chillywilly thwaps ajmitch Action: ajmitch goes & sits in a corner haha jcater: no I aborted but I have multiple machines HD to install to ah I forget the exact wording on the installation screen on what you need to go into or you can install via the CD and add networking later (after the installation) I'll get my card specs out and try again and complete the install even if no network hmmm, the netinstall CDs work...but I think I had to load the NIC driver chillywilly: that could be the prob. I've seen commits but honestly I've been preoccupied with my own area in GNUe yeah how's reports? So you are running GNUE on a diskless workstation. kreiszner: basically, you have one nice computer and several cheapo hard-diskless computers that run X-WIndows over the network yeah our call center (customer service, etc) is 99% diskless (there is one Windows machine over there, so I can't say 100%) pretty much anything you can run on your debian machine you can run over a diskless just as well the primary exceptions being audio-related stuff X's network transparency is the bomb :) yeah, it is very useful the only reason I run diskless at the bookstore (with its single workstation :) is I'm afraid someone will see the computer sitting there and try to steal it at night given that it's a 200Mhz and the actual data is some where in the back in a closet it's not that big a deal if someone did plus my wife is very rough on computers, so I like having a disposable PC for her to work from (ya know, kicking it and stuff) Action: ajmitch has to run out, bye all I would settle for a plain running deb 3.0 but then sometime I kick mine also. lol thanks gone to mow grass chillywilly (~danielb@CPE-65-31-171-97.wi.rr.com) left irc: "Free Your Enterprise! - http://www.gnuenterprise.org" jcater (~jason@w202.z065105010.mem-tn.dsl.cnc.net) got netsplit. ra3vat (~ds@ics.elcom.ru) got netsplit. ra3vat (~ds@ics.elcom.ru) got lost in the net-split. jcater (~jason@w202.z065105010.mem-tn.dsl.cnc.net) got lost in the net-split. jcater (~jason@w202.z065105010.mem-tn.dsl.cnc.net) joined #gnuenterprise. ra3vat (~ds@ics.elcom.ru) joined #gnuenterprise. #gnuenterprise: mode change '+o jcater' by calvino.freenode.net sub_pop (~link@129.210.184.56) joined #gnuenterprise. chillywilly (~danielb@CPE-24-167-199-51.wi.rr.com) joined #gnuenterprise. wb chillywilly hi thanks chillywilly (~danielb@CPE-24-167-199-51.wi.rr.com) left irc: "Free Your Enterprise! - http://www.gnuenterprise.org" fixe (~fixe@dsl017-020-123.chi1.dsl.speakeasy.net) left irc: "because I feel like it" chillywilly (~danielb@CPE-24-167-199-51.wi.rr.com) joined #gnuenterprise. kreiszner (kreiszner@ppp002.alx.la.xspedius.net) left irc: "Client exiting" jbailey (~jbailey@CPE0060082df811-CM014260028338.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com) left irc: "Client exiting" sub_pop (~link@129.210.184.56) left irc: "Client exiting" jcater (~jason@w202.z065105010.mem-tn.dsl.cnc.net) left irc: "home" jcater (~jcater@cpe-066-061-083-220.midsouth.rr.com) joined #gnuenterprise. hi howdy ave I'll have what jcater's drinking OJ at the moment (Vodka-less, unfortunately) Action: Vee2d2 is super poopd kids went to the farm this morning.. so I went crazy doing all the things I can never get around to doing all day.. =) Action: Vee2d2 goes to plop down in bed.. --- Sat Jun 7 2003
