I have some questions. Do any one have some time to answer them? It`s about where can I use GNUe. I would like to know, is it posible to use GNUe in Credit Unions. VoVachaka: why not if you design your custom application for that? currently gnue is a set of tools to help to with what you want stuq_ (~stuq@65-73-213-223.bras01.mdl.ny.frontiernet.net) joined #gnuenterprise. hmm.. should there be setup-cvs.py's in each of the directories under the new structure? I'm only seeing the one in common. Vee2d2: use it, it should be right that old script yea, I see it made the correct links now.. =) I`m reading the web site, needed customer (one CU has more then 11000) package is not started. There is also loan and saving management support needed. May be I should better find some thing else? Could someone explain the what a block is? I'm a little confused. well they are kind of confusing :) in many ways they are like a datasource i.e. it would be easy to mistake the two in some instances I thought they were some kind of display field... but blocks can control widgets which was wrong! no they are more a 'container' Action: derek has to run but look at the designer manual or the forms manual for a thorough definition is that Developers-Guide.pdf? A datasource provides a link to a table, but Forms needs more information than a simple reference to meaningfully interface with an end user. A block is the first step to making datasources suitable for such user interaction. At its most basic level, a block contains instructions on how Forms should interact with a datasource. Any datasources that are to interact with a user must have a single corresponding block. Datasources that are only used internally and not for displaying data will not normally have an associated block, although the developer may choose to do so. Blocks are the display equivalent of datasources, Did you just write that, or is there some huge chunk of documentation I'm missing? derek: found it. Thanks. What is the GNUe idiom for displaying tables of info? If I have a teachers form up and I want a list of all their students at the bottom of the page that I can click on and up pops the students info. Does this exist? Or is there some other way of 'drilling down" to the info in question? anyone? I can't think of another way to move between related objects. Or am I looking at this the wrong way. jamest (~jamest@adsl-65-71-168-126.dsl.tpkaks.swbell.net) left irc: "Client exiting" jbailey (~jbailey@CPE0060082df811-CM014260028338.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com) left irc: "Client exiting" stuq_ (~stuq@65-73-213-223.bras01.mdl.ny.frontiernet.net) left irc: "Client Exiting" larard: you would have to use triggers or do a dual form where say top half of form is the student data laid out in full and the bottom half is the 'grid' listing all the students when you highlight a student in the grid their information pops up in the top half of the form you can do that with no code using master/detail w/in forms to do the 'pop-up' you would have to do some code you would have to get the 'id' (key) of the grid form record and pass that to the popped up form hope that makes sense jbailey (~jbailey@CPE0060082df811-CM014260028338.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com) joined #gnuenterprise. gurhan- (~me@216-164-62-3.c3-0.161-ubr3.lnh-161.md.cable.rcn.com) left irc: Read error: 60 (Operation timed out) chillywilly (~danielb@CPE-24-167-197-5.wi.rr.com) joined #gnuenterprise. rdean_ (~rdean@c-66-177-158-116.se.client2.attbi.com) left irc: "Client exiting" haha http://www.iowafarmer.com/corncam/corn.html an actual corn-cam Action: jcater has seen it all now Nah, seen it all will be when the pot cams come out. =) hehe Jamest mentioned earlier that I might want to ask you about something I've been thinking about and you might offer guidance. Got a sec? possibly Just your thoughts on if there's a reasonable way within GNUe architecture to somehow run forms as a server that intead of presenting the UI, handed off the UI objects from the virtual form to another app/routine/etc for display as it sees fit. My particular application is web forms where the forms UI would otherwise be too strict or just too annoying to integrate into a web framework. I have some crazy ugly mechanisms for dealing with this now, but it would be nice if I could just interact with the virtual form and know that gnuef could just take care of itself. hmmm Action: jcater needs to get some lemonaide to think I have some Mike's Hard here... mmmm I'm out but love that stuff morning --- Mon Jun 23 2003
