Hey... Umm.. I know that the AppServer guys aren't here, but are the communications Forms<->AppServer clear-text? huh? Telnet and FTP send everything clear-text... so if someone is sniffing your traffic, they can read your password... so if Forms goes to AppServer (thus not needing a direct DB Driver), then the communications on the wire could be encrypted (like SSH port-forwarding) well it uses the gnue rpc abstraction which can speak whatever protocol you write a driver for currently there is xmlrpc and I think some other one tht I don't recall you can of course send xmlrpc over SSL Nods, but if the RPC abstraction doesn't do anything special before putting the data on the wire, then the data is clear-text Not being a coder, I don't think you want me writing a protocol for the comm's but if the "wire" is an encrypted channel via https then you are fine Yup which it is for xmlrpc over https via gnue rpc cool Co. I work for is beyond ANAL about security I see Nice thing about running over https would be that the port is predictable... so you can lock down the firewall ports Next question: Has anyone written a CLI input? eg. gnueformscli -form dcl -severity Low -Description "Bug" -Details "This thing crashes whenever you have a bug" Would be handy for calls from OpenView and the like --- Thu Feb 19 2004
