There *must* be something not right. Or someone is doing something wrong all the time. I wonder if there is a way to detect when it's hozed. It's complicated. I have a table with an array of months. Each element in the array is a budget for a month. Can designer handle arrays, or should I split it into 12 separate fields? Thoughts? dhill1: jcater is the designer developer derek: yes anon svn our datasources, last i knew, would puke on an array is an array even SQL standard yet? no beats me, but designer handled it without puking. But I haven't done anything real yet. it's object-relational stuff, iirc so the short answer is to avoid arrays? yes thanks. is that long term answer? * derek is wondering if appserver will push that envelope at some point? are arrays something we should consider dealing with? jamest / jcater are either one of you handling "totals" meaning if you have a table where you need to show details and totals (but things can be dynamic derek: i don't understand the question i will explain when i get back from lunch or dhill1 can explain *** johannesV_ has quit IRC I have a list of accounts ... 601, 602, 603, etc. I have subtotals: 601+602=total taxes, 603+604=total fees I have more totals: total taxes and fees=total taxees+total fees I want to show these on a form, each row being an account or subtotal or total columns will be months, and totay year er, total year. I'm not sure how I can build such a form. *** chillywilly has quit IRC *** chillywilly has joined #gnuenterprise http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1607&item=4300101857&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW *** dsmith has quit IRC of course this could be done statically but not all instances can work in a static fashion though there might be a way around this.... hmmm *** kilo_ has joined #gnuenterprise hmm is this a readonly block? or would the "account" rows be editable? if editable, I can't fathom how to do it exactly as you describe if read-only, what I do at work is not have the detail block bound to a datasource but have an on-new-record trigger for the master block that loops thru the detail datasource and creates whatever records in the detail block I need this is so specific, I can't figure out how that'd be further automated *** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise hmmm i think we can live with it being readonly certainly the subtotal/total lines are readonly i think when we get closer to there we can provide concrete gfd and structure s to get better opinions :) yeah that's the type of thing you have to sit down and play with to figure out best way all in all im seeing designer is WAY nicer than it was a few months ago and forms has lots of new features however there are goign to be some tough problems for us to solve * derek has gotten so spoiled doing simple stuff that i havent had to write code for forms to make them work for once there is going to be a fair amount of code behind the forms :) *** sjc has left #gnuenterprise *** jreynaga has joined #gnuenterprise damn, my gnome is bitched racist shut the hell up *** ZaPooda has quit IRC wow chilly musta got some extra strong expresso today * chillywilly is sick and crabby and now my desktop is broke I need nyquil *** kilo_ has quit IRC *** kilo_ has joined #gnuenterprise *** kilo_ has quit IRC *** jamest has left #gnuenterprise bitches fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuccccccccccccccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 *** jcater has quit IRC *** jreynaga has quit IRC *** jreynaga has joined #gnuenterprise *** SachaS has quit IRC *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise oh yummy i have dynamic gpd's that go multilevels deep!!! some good loving http://www.gnuenterprise.org/~dneighbo/screenshots/navigator_tree.png dynamic? how you pulling that off? i wrote a little program buildGPD.py that builds gpd's off databases of course it is specific to my needs wow you wrote code? * jamest runs jamest: what is more fearful is it appears to be workign WOW ;) jamest: what is even more fearful is Derek is my mentor. once you helped me grasp the syntax for nested dicts it was amazingly easy derek? mentor? * chillywilly runs away in a panic jamest: the interesting thing is that pythong builds these amazingly fast and truthfully the load time is nearly identical whether navigator opens a tree with 10 items or 4000 pythong? is that a typo or some program heheh oooo py-thong it's those slinky panties what other chatrooms you hanging out in mr neighbots haha, neighbots damnit...my gnome is b0rked *** dhill1 has quit IRC http://www.libertyetech.com/broke-ass-gnome.png doh i lied writing 11 records happens in under .01 second and takes .04 to open in navigator writing 2942 nested records takes about 51 seconds and about 27 sec to open in navigator not fast enough ;) *** SachaS has quit IRC derek try psyco are views readonly in postgres? why try psyco?
