*** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** sss has joined #gnuenterprise Hi, I am getting the following strange error message whilst trying to set up appserver, does anyone know why? sss@dellboy4:~/gnuenotes/src/gnue-appserver-0.3.3/scripts$ ./gnue-setupdb Loading gsd file '/home/sss/gnue/share/gnue/appserver/gnue.gsd' ... DROP USER CREATE USER CREATE DATABASE unknown encoding: en_us *** sjc has quit IRC *** johannesV has joined #gnuenterprise *** reinhard has joined #gnuenterprise sss: you here? yep, still struggling... I still can't figure out why gnue-setupdb gives me the error message "unknown encoding: en_us" from first glance i would say it should be en_US so I would be curious what your locale is set to but I greppred through everything related to gnue, I can't find "en_us", my locale is en_GB hmm strange *** holycow has quit IRC can you try what happens when you call LANG=C ./gnue-setupdb ? same problem ... sss@dellboy4:~/gnuenotes/src/gnue-appserver-0.3.3/scripts$ ./gnue-setupdb Loading gsd file '/home/sss/gnue/share/gnue/appserver/gnue.gsd' ... DROP USER CREATE USER CREATE DATABASE unknown encoding: en_us what DB backend do you use? and what's in your connections.conf? I am using postgresql : ffrom my connections.conf - [gnue] comment = GNUe Test Database aliases = dcl test provider = psycopg host = localhost dbname = gnue # encoding = iso8859-1 In fact, it's the default connections.conf, I have changed it at all ...haven't changed it .. can you please try to add a encoding = iso8859-1 or a encoding = utf-8 to your connections.conf? seems like something is wrong with the default encoding in your postgres which distro do you use? OK, I will try your suggestions, I am using Debian Sarge but you use our tarballs not the gnue packages from sarge, right? right did you already have postgres installed for a longer time? or did you just install right now for gnue? IIRC postgres install on sarge asks you for some kind of default encoding FWIW it works for me with encoding = utf-8 I installed the whole OS, database fresh last week and I use sarge with postgres, just like you :) I have tried both encoding = iso8859-1, utf-8, same problem you did remove the '#' at the start of the line, right? yes can you manually create a db in postgres? yes does it work when you do the database gnue was created successfully, but there are no tables oh ah did you drop the database between the tries? yes, gnue-setupdb would complain otherwise this is very strange I have never used python before, I thinking changing gnue-schema to run gnue.common.schema.scripter.Scripter in debug mode, if possible you can add --debug-level 9 to the gnue-schema command line sorry must leave will be back tomorrow will try to sort this out by all means thanks, see you later cu tomorrow sss *** reinhard has quit IRC *** sss has quit IRC *** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** SachaS has quit IRC *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** wendall911 has joined #gnuenterprise *** holycow has joined #gnuenterprise *** johannesV has joined #gnuenterprise *** SachaS has quit IRC *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise *** wendall911 has quit IRC *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has quit IRC *** SachaS has quit IRC *** holycow has quit IRC *** kilo has joined #gnuenterprise *** wendall911 has joined #gnuenterprise *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise slune a python 3d game amazing tux and gnu fighting for the good night *** SachaS has quit IRC *** kilo has quit IRC *** sjc has quit IRC *** wendall911 has quit IRC *** jamest has quit IRC *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** holycow has joined #gnuenterprise *** dcmwai has joined #gnuenterprise *** dcmwai has quit IRC
