*** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** btami has joined #gnuenterprise good morning *** kilo has joined #gnuenterprise *** reinhard has joined #gnuenterprise good morning good morning hi reinhard *** holycow has joined #gnuenterprise reinhard: u here? kilo: yes well, depends if you have a bug report, then no ;) atm i am working on config files for each tool so that a sample.gnue.conf could be generated from them you mean autogenerated config files? what do you think would be the best way to handle those entries that are deprecated (ie cannot be found in the src other place but only G?Config.py)? yes like what I wrote to BUGS? aye I think a config option should be marked clearly as deprecated in G?Config.py and deprecated options should not be contained in the sample file btw: cool :) what if i comment them I was thinking about something like smb.conf all sample config file would be commented anyway i mean what if i comment them out the deprecated ones and they would not be included in the sample conf file I really would not even mention them huh? ah you mean comment them out in the python code ? yes they are not mentioned anywhere else not sure what that would mean to somebody having such an option still lying around in his gnue.conf so noone uses them wouldn't the parer create an error message? dunno if not, then I',m all for commenting them out ok, will look after that another point is the deprecated options that are still in effect like "database" for appserver (deprecated alias for "connection") those shouldn't be mentioned in the sample, either (IMHO) I was thinking the sample gnue.conf like [section] # Set this to "bar" if you want to frobnicate your program ; foo = baz i.e. expanatory comments with # the actual option line commented out with ; is ; also commenting out? and all ; lines showing the default config yes, it's like in smb.conf ok, gonna write a tool to generate the conf file then and I like the concept (from smb.conf) to use # as a comment and ; for commented out option lines that's cool will follow this style then, it is really clearer then the current one we us s/us/use crazy world - I write something in BUGS and you fix it - usually it's the other way around ;-) lol but it is not a bug 8-))) reinhard: seems like if there is an entry in gnue.conf that is not included in G?Config.py, it is not parsed and GConfig does not report any errors ok, then I would not only comment out the not-anymore-used stuff from G?Config, I would actually delete it ok, brute-force mode ON 8-)) *** sjc has quit IRC *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise *** btami has quit IRC *** holycow has quit IRC *** lekma has joined #gnuenterprise hi all reinhard: if you read this huge show stopper here searching through calc prop works fine when you have just a few object when you get real and search through thousand objects it borks lamentably with a too long traceback to past here can you mail the traceback to reinhard at gnue dot org? yep not right now though i have people around complaining i need to sort things a bit ok *** kilo has quit IRC *** cilkay has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** btami has joined #gnuenterprise *** wendall911 has joined #gnuenterprise jamest/reinhard: what do you think about removing samples-0.4.0.tar.gz from downloads at all ? it contains samples from 2002 !!! someone reported this to hungarian gnue-list he was fighting them 1-2 hours until he noticed that the forms tags are changed thre is a hungarian gnue list?? cool btw I'm ok with it as well as I would be ok with removing it from cvs along with other samples that don't work any more (forms/samples probably containing some candidates) more sensible to UPDATE and correct archivist: true ok archivist: but also more work :) and I'd prefer few well maintained samples above a lot of ill maintained ones same holds for documentation btw I'm not sure if gnue-docbook contains *any* documentation that's still valid reinhard: aries was kind enough to provide the list http://tepsi.mindworks.hu/mailman/listinfo/gnue-list ok, I'll look if I find something interesting in the archive .... erm ... ;-) lol reinhard: may i remove samples-0.4.0.tar.gz from www/downloads at all ? or just the simlonk from current ? s/lonk/link it won't help removing the symlink as it will be recreated at next web page rebuild :) ok, thx done *** dimas has quit IRC “They say if you play a Microsoft CD backwards, you hear satanic messages. Yes, I'm an IRC virgin :] hi Interested in gnue for use in some complex business applications. Anybody know about 'Business Object Servers' or eMatrix PLM systems? sorry, I don't :) I think a number of people are probably away at the moment Ah. What's a good time / day? morning/day in europe seems to be a good time to catch some of the more active developers sweet ... thanks I assume you use gnue? yes, but not much at the moment only for much simpler apps * ajmitch is still at uni so hasn't had time to use it much for work :) Yea, my applications are extremely complex for business applications called Product Lifecycle Management systems. I work for a big F500 company and we're interested in some cost cutting measures to reduce our crazy licencing costs. GNUe seems like a nice start. I'm also looking to start up an Open Source group to satisfy my specific business need. I'd suggest you talk to reinhard or perhaps jamest/jcater when they're around also the mailing lists can be helpful Thanks for your time. Caio :] no problems :) leave #gnuenterprise oops. let me try that again .... /part #gnuenterprise *** Java_script has left #gnuenterprise *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has quit IRC
