yes i've had a little project dumped on me that needs done by the 1st (no friggen way) but part of it involves a custom app written in Qt hrmmm so i need things forms login handlers, the main windows, etc, etc i see this as the start of that unified app we've talked about ok so I'm wondering if it's worth putting what I can somewhere in the gnue repositiry as I need it not sure where or if it's even a good idea maybe gnue-contrib? then moving it to navigator later? yes, when it will become the "official" way to handle things some directories in gnue have become kinda the "waste paper basket for unfinished code fragments" and while it's a good idea to keep these fragments, it's probably also a good idea to distinguish between "proper gnue" and "poc of new ideas" I'm thinking about stuff here like gnue-dbtools, gnue-integrator, gnue-phpforms, some of the dbdrivers we already purged and some of the rpc drivers that were never finished (soap, pyro, ...) and I think gnue-contrib might be a good place for stuff we "want to get back to it later" makes sense just my 0.02 hmmm what about a branch? then I could screw around but still use the standard install tools for deployments here during development and if it dead ends then we purge the brach works for me, too ok now, do I keep all ui framework stuff in navigator then? which is where i've been putting it at one point it would go separate, wouldn't it? and forms and navigator would depend on it yes, both would be based on the framework and designer and custom apps like the one I'm doing and btw, did you ever look at cimarron? i think so i can't recall details though other than i think we talked about taking ideas from it do you have a url *** ajmitch has quit IRC *** nickr has quit IRC *** reinhard has quit IRC *** derek has quit IRC *** jamest has quit IRC *** yure has quit IRC *** ncjp has quit IRC *** mnemoc has quit IRC *** Amorphous has quit IRC *** havoc has quit IRC *** dimas has quit IRC *** derek has joined #gnuenterprise *** reinhard has joined #gnuenterprise *** nickr has joined #gnuenterprise *** ajmitch has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** dimas has joined #gnuenterprise *** havoc has joined #gnuenterprise *** Amorphous has joined #gnuenterprise *** mnemoc has joined #gnuenterprise *** ncjp has joined #gnuenterprise *** yure has joined #gnuenterprise not sure how much you got i think i recall cimarron and that we were going to look at ideas from it but I can't recall details, nor can I find their site part of papo now wasn't it http://developer.berlios.de/projects/cimarron/ yep, part of papo ok, i do recall this requires zope3 *** jamest has quit IRC *** jcater has quit IRC *** nickr has quit IRC *** reinhard has quit IRC *** ajmitch has quit IRC *** derek has quit IRC *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** derek has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** ajmitch has joined #gnuenterprise *** reinhard has joined #gnuenterprise *** nickr has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has quit IRC *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise reinhard: so you think it's worth using that? and are we ok with using zope3 in our base I didn't have a look closer than 10m (I don't know what that is in feet ;-)) what I recall I don't understand what they use zope for zope3 is pretty slick my understanding was always that zope is a web thingy not zope3 it's still a web thing but it's a lot more so it would be at least overkill for what we want, wouldn't it? I mean it has a component zope is an ftp server, a web server, a kitchen sink and several other things architecture, http://www.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ComponentArchitecture/ComponentArchitectureOverview i'm pretty sure that's what papo reuses i've seen other projects do it too hmmm I might be wrong, but in my view zope is still a tool for making web pages as zope3 provides an interface framework so you can define interfaces for classes it might be powerful, flexible, extensible and reusable zope2 is that but its still targetted at web apps anyone here ever look at Ruby? zope3 has a gnue-common set of libraries that anyone can use ok Ruby is pretty kick ass so that would be what they use? yes can the be installed separately? i *think* so hi hi chillywilly chillywilly: no ruby never used Ruby, but heard some people talk about it SachaS has used it quite some, IIRC i've heard good about it, but too invested in python, and too busy to try something new ok :) I'd like to try smalltalk but that'll likely never happen heh as I'd like to gnue again too but you all see where that's gone :) :( *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise jcater: but this was your 2nd weekend in a row gnue'n wasn't it? yeah slacker ;) when I was young (I mean *really* young) I played with languages like lisp, prolog and forth forth was pretty interesting anything worth doing is worth doing in logo I like postscript, myself FWIW both logo and postscript are based on forth IIRC I've seen people on #hurd writing real programs in postscript even recursive programs I've seen a webserver written in it sadly enough as have i but damn only sick freaks would like postscript, or enjoy assigning postscript projects to their underlings heh there's just something special about lisp macros :P yeah just like there's something special about enemas too programs hacking programs cu all *** reinhard has quit IRC *** jcater has quit IRC *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has quit IRC *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater_ has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has quit IRC *** derek has quit IRC *** jcater has quit IRC *** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** Amorphous has quit IRC *** Amorphous has joined #gnuenterprise *** sjc has quit IRC *** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has quit IRC *** sjc has quit IRC *** SachaS has quit IRC *** nickr has quit IRC *** ajmitch has quit IRC *** jcater has quit IRC *** mnemoc has quit IRC *** havoc has quit IRC *** dimas has quit IRC *** Amorphous has quit IRC *** yure has quit IRC *** ncjp has quit IRC *** Amorphous has joined #gnuenterprise *** ncjp has joined #gnuenterprise *** yure has joined #gnuenterprise *** dimas has joined #gnuenterprise *** havoc has joined #gnuenterprise *** mnemoc has joined #gnuenterprise *** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise *** ajmitch has joined #gnuenterprise *** nickr has joined #gnuenterprise *** bigbrother has joined #gnuenterprise *** bigbrother has joined #gnuenterprise *** yure has quit IRC *** ncjp has quit IRC *** Amorphous has quit IRC *** yure has joined #gnuenterprise *** ncjp has joined #gnuenterprise *** Amorphous has joined #gnuenterprise *** yure has quit IRC *** sjc has quit IRC *** SachaS has quit IRC *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** flashpa has joined #gnuenterprise hello would anyone be able to help figure out why my gnue-designer complains that it can't find the mysql plugin flashpa: do you have the python mysql module installed? i believe i do. i am using FreeBSd as my platfornm. the documentation seems to indicate that the python MySQLdb module provides the plugin yes damn. i am reallystumped. i loaded the postgresql module and it can find that one with no problems. but i need the mysql to work. i have tried turning on various debugging levels, but i can't seem to find how it is "missing" it. checked the connections.conf file? tried just an import at the interpreter command line? the connections.conf seems to only list the database connections, not hwre the drivers are. unless i am missing something. i have mysqal specified as the provider. perhaps that is not the right name? mysql should be the provider, yes sadly, i don't know python well enough to trace what is going on (not going on) *** flashpa has left #gnuenterprise *** jcater has quit IRC
