Could anyone recommend a document to read? I'm thinking about "Setting up PostgreSQL to test with GNUe Appserver samples" and "howtowriteanewgnueapplicationwiththegnueapplicationserver.pdf". I was able to open form.gfd. However: 1. I'm not sure I've setup the infrastructure correctly. 2. I don't see how I can create my own application. Can anyone help? what os you use? Linux, Debian unstable. I've installed postgresql-8.0 and gnue-* packages. ok I created a "gnue" db. I can access it with psql. BTW, I was not sure about the encoding. I've set it to iso-8859-1. are you filled your connections.conf ? I copied sample.connections.conf and sample.gnue.conf. However, I don't have an overview of what I need at all. read this first: http://www.gnuenterprise.org/tools/forms/docs/Developers-Guide.pdf Aha. Downloading... I though this was intended for gnue tool developers... Where is the link to it on the web page? http://www.gnuenterprise.org/tools/forms/ Found, thanks. Another question. The site mentions ERP packages, but I don't see how I can download them. Note: Packages are not as far along in the development cycle as the tools. Most are still in the planning stages. so, no packages yet :( Erm, any code already? svn would be ok. moment... http://www.gnuenterprise.org/developers/svn.php there is a packages subdir in gnue repo btw. we have an unofficial repo too I see. What is the motivation? $ svn co http://svn.gnuenterprise.org/gnue-contrib Ah, that is unofficial. Ok. Aha, checked out contrib. Looks interesting. Meanwhile, skimmed through Developers-Guide.pdf. Don't see anything about initial setup, config files... What I'm looking for is basically a checklist of things to do. Is there anything like that? brb http://www.gnuenterprise.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/trunk/gnue-appserver/doc/configuration.txt?rev=7001&view=markup bbl *** btami is now known as btami_away I'm back. Thanks for the link, reading... Without your help, I wouldn't have been able to find the right docs in short time. What I want is a step-by-step howto to allow people do that themselves. ... from a newly installed system to running hello-gnue, I mean. I'll try to write one as soon as I'm done. *** ninja has quit IRC *** ibr has quit IRC *** reinhard has joined #gnuenterprise *** kreiszner has joined #gnuenterprise *** ibr has joined #gnuenterprise I have a Debian 3.1 with older versions of gnue that was intalled with apt. Does anybody have a recomendation on how best to archive my present versions and setup so that I can recover if I have trouble with the newer source versions. I think if you backup /etc/gnue and then apt-get remove --purge gnue-* you should be able to reinstall with apt if you have troubles with the newer version however I would rather hope you don't have troubles: current releases are out for a month now and we aren't aware of any major issue bbl *** btami_away has quit IRC Thanks reinhard. I was down for a nap when you replied. I have really enjoyed using gnue so far and am getting ready to explore reports. *** kilo has joined #gnuenterprise *** kilo has quit IRC *** ibr has quit IRC *** reinhard has quit IRC *** kreiszner1 has joined #gnuenterprise *** kreiszner has quit IRC *** sjc has quit IRC *** kreiszner1 has quit IRC *** ninja has joined #gnuenterprise *** ninja has quit IRC *** ninja has joined #gnuenterprise
