will download everything for win32 from http://www.gnuenterprise.org/downloads/current.php dimas: i don't understand was there any updates after last release? in gnue-* packages : no in runtime : yes fixes for reinhard in pil handling iirc ok, will grab all *** yure has quit IRC *** dimas_ has quit IRC *** sjc has quit IRC *** johannesV has joined #gnuenterprise *** johannesV_ has quit IRC *** yure has joined #gnuenterprise *** btami has quit IRC *** yure has quit IRC *** ninja has quit IRC *** kilo has quit IRC *** SachaS has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise ah, jamest ... :) jamest, what do you think about requiring wx.2.6 for forms ? is that possible at all or just to far away ... do any distros support 2.6? and what would we gain? *** btami has joined #gnuenterprise well, i think 2.6 contains a lot of fixes; it's the current stable, contains almost all controls we'd need, looks good using gtk2, win32, osx and reinhard an me thought about creating a universal, and working ui-driver, replacing that gtk2 and win32 driver in the future (as we're also thinking about doing a heavy rework of forms ... ) the ubuntu breezy has 2.6 already, edge too (i think) os x comes with 2.5.3 built in as i see things one advantage of having a 'working' wx-driver is we could use 'one' driver implementation to use forms on a wide range of platforms and it looks like wx2.6 has improved a lot (compared to 2.4) * SachaS congrats the austrians for continues hard work on gnue! u guys rule :) SachaS, thanks :) brb *** johannesV has quit IRC sigh timing is everything the original idea of the wx driver was that but the differences in unlying widget sets in wx cause some pain i'm not against a wx drive and with forms system of ui drivers it'd be cake to just copy the wx driver dir to wx26 and go to town though if some hard core ui work is being done i'd sure like to see about ways of allowing it to also be used outside forms the point is that wx could save us from hard core ui work as for working wx let's put it this way that's still all i use :) we are trying to find out whether wx 2.6 is really giving us what we were expeciting from wx2.4 (and not getting there) so you're talking about ditching the other dirvers completely no or maintaining the curses and making wx the main one but based on 2.6 actually we're talking about updating wx to 2.6 and then look how usable and stable it is ah and *then* decide whether to put our focus on wx or on native drivers could we just add a 2nd dir then for now with xw26 er wx26 as I do run head in production I think that's what we would have to do then I'm cool with it if you use wx and depend on 2.4 right now I do ok i want to move to qt seriously but wx 2.6 may fix the issues i have with 2.4 the more I searched the net for anygui like projects they all suck compared to wx :) that target at a common widget set for different uis and could be a starting point for a non-db specific abstraction layer the more I found that you don't get around wx everybody else points you to wx it's why the first driver in forms was wx most bang for the buck *** johannesV has joined #gnuenterprise so I figured we might, instead of creating our own widget abstraction, try to get wx up to speed again and better invest in fixing/improving wx instead of reinventing the wheel which might even include things like creating a qt3 ui plugin for wx if they are willing to accept patches but still, first step is just trying to get forms run with wx 2.6 and see how we come to love or hate wx they are i'm fine with that if i can find wx2.6 for sarge then I'd be willing to install here as wel as now that shipping, accounting, purchasing, and sales all depend on forms I'm sure we'd iron out bugs fairly quickly :) I think we'll go for the separate wx26 definately then you can still go where you want but i'd be able to help with testing and fixing even wx24 for user A and wx26 for user B yip i was thinking I could move sales to it first if wx2.6 fixed the 2.4 checkbox the gtk checkbox in 2.4 sucks users can't seem to tell if it's checked or unchecked ah I think that's a general gtk1 widget set problem actually that's the #1 gripe from our vehicle inspection team as well this should most probably be better in wx2.6 but then again, if you use gtk anyway why don't you try the gtk2 driver for now? we're locked into gnue here :) i tried several times it frags the forms layout ah yes, that and my forms are pretty packed wrt boxes, right? maybe johannes could hack something? if you send him a sample of a form that doesn't look ok in gtk2 i don't recall, i'll try and look again today *** yure has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** reinhard has quit IRC *** btami has quit IRC *** jamest has left #gnuenterprise *** johannesV has quit IRC *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** kilo has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has left #gnuenterprise *** jcater has quit IRC *** kilo has quit IRC *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** sjc has quit IRC *** jamest has joined #gnuenterprise *** yure has quit IRC *** jcater has quit IRC *** jcater has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater_ has joined #gnuenterprise *** ninja has joined #gnuenterprise *** jcater has quit IRC *** jamest has left #gnuenterprise
