Visibility: 10.0 miles 16.1 kilometers. that's where havoc lives jcater: you done much development lately? same numbers gnue, or in general? eitehr either even how about you chillywilly gnue, not at all well, internally I have a few utils to commit basically check digit formulas here at work, I do coding maybe 10% of my time working in QT a lot being an avid web client hater now that they've GPL'd the windows client too i am really astonished at what AJAX brings to the table a year ago it was ugly ass java script but with rails it totally abstracts all that im finding web apps to be more feature rich than gui apps never in a million years thought i would say that dneighbors: I am not doing much at the moment, but I am playing with rails and reading this book right now anyway.. definitely worth looking at rails Agile Web Development with Rails chillywilly: that is a great book I have a full-time web developer here now tought her python and zope, so that's what she spends her time doing she comes from java, though i will also say active record is REALLY nice chillywilly: i encourage you to read that section in the book dneighbors: I built the Depot app a long time ago...I had started read that but I put it down for so long I frogot a lot reading* definitely check out scriptalous (sp) yea, I've been there I've even used Basecamp for some things * dimas_ started to use django instead of RoR dimas_: very interesting I kinda like Ruby I've been wanting to play around with django i've installed RoR then started to look for similar projects in python django and turbogears seems on the top of the list I had not seen turbogears before interesting very though any project that refers to themselves as a megaframework makes me wonder... :) turbogears is a pile of poo best i can gather it basically just is trying to glue existing stuff together django could be interesting at first (and still to a degree) i dont like ruby and miss python django is cool but more and more it is becoming normal I have way too much business logic in python now to move to anything else and training of my developers yeah stuff we are doing is all new development so was easy to jump django looks promising hopefully it will mature quickly so dimas_ when will there be a django gnue client ready ;) jcater: you ever get converted off oracle? our new business is 100% opensource * dneighbors is really impressed with newest versions of postgres postgres + zope + python + gnue + debian i have some tests that get data from gnue-appserver directly no ubuntu :) ajmitch__: hasnt converted you yet my laptop is ubuntu but beyond that, no I see no advantage breezy has a nice server install and is a little more updated than debian tends to be (but not bleeding edge) I've considered moving my LTSP servers to kubuntu, as those are my client servers that would be interesting but then slap myself back to sanity * dneighbors misses good ole gnue how is tj doing>? I have hundreds of cfengine files to autoconfigure any debian server I throw at it and don't wnat to abandon that :) he is all over the place today he got an E in conduct the first time all year :) you should celebrate by taking him to get a donut ;) how's your crew?
