<markus_s> Hi - what happened to 'oldpackages'? The new one does not contain a much accounting schemas...
*** lupo__ has joined #gnuenterprise
<dimas_> markus_s: the only accounting schema i remember was in gnue-luca
<markus_s> luca? hm...
<dimas_> will you find it?
<markus_s> that one: svn.gnuenterprise.org/var/svn/gnue-luca/trunk?
<dimas_> should be it
<markus_s> ..seems to be down, though.
<markus_s> Strange, I've just checked out /gnue/trunk, now /gnue-luca/trunk times out...
<markus_s> Even in the browser http://svn.gnuenterprise.org/ times out.
<markus_s> Anyway, I'll try again later.
<markus_s> What about GNUe small business edition from http://www.gnu.org/software/gnue-sb/?
<markus_s> Hm.. last commit there has beet in July 2003.
<dimas_> you'd better ask reinhard about all these
<markus_s> What about GNUe itself. I really like what I understand so far, but I'm having a hard time getting started.
<markus_s> The samples seem unconnected, i.e. a sample in gnue-forms does not use the appserver at all. Likewise with the navigator.
<dimas_> when you getting familiar with gnue-forms sample, switching to appserver is a matter of changing datasource
<dimas_> and there is gnue-appserver/samples
<markus_s> Hm, I create a schema with the designer, then also a forms definition. Install the schema in the datasource and then connect to it via the forms. I should then be able to insert, update and delete rows from the database for this schema.
<dimas_> which include sample forms
<markus_s> Is that more or less how it works?
<markus_s> Okay, need to check those out.
<dimas_> markus_s: yes
<dimas_> i did not use designer much
<markus_s> So you do XML by hand (i.e. text editor)?
<dimas_> usually after i loaded schema
<dimas_> i requested object directly from appserver with option to save debug output in the file
<dimas_> so i was getting default form definition as appserver was able to construct it
<markus_s> So you create the schema in the database (with SQL like CREATE TABLE foo (id PRIMARY KEY, bar INT,...)??
<dimas_> then tweaking manually
<dimas_> no
<markus_s> Sorry, so how do you create the schema, then?
<dimas_> as .gcd files
<dimas_> class definition
<markus_s> Aha. Understood.
<markus_s> GNUe small business edition does not have any such file... :-(
<markus_s> ..must be a concept introduced after 2003 ;-)
<dimas_> gnue-sb is obsolete
<markus_s> Should luca be more up to date?
<dimas_> and did not intend to use appserver from the beginning
<markus_s> Aha.
<dimas_> gcdcvs --connection=dialcom-backend $(GNUEGL)/finance/gl.gcd
<dimas_> use something like that to load schema
<markus_s> Yeah, could checkout gnue-luca...
<dimas_> it it responding?
<dimas_> is it
<markus_s> Yes.
<markus_s> Do I have to install some schemas from base first?
<dimas_> may be gnue.gsd ?
<dimas_> markus_s: try cvs installation, it is more convenient for development
<markus_s> No, I meant from the gnue-luca dist.
<dimas_> easily work from you home dir
<dimas_> markus_s: gnue-luca is not complete
<markus_s> You're probably right. I'm tring to do all this by hand, which is quite... time consuming.
<markus_s> but luca seems to be a start.
<markus_s> dimas_: thank you, bye.
