It creates the user gnue just fine .. then it asks for password again and fails with 'Readgsd: FATAL: Password authentication failed for user "gnue"' .. it creates the database gnue but it is empty. sh-3.1$ gnue-setupdb You are about to create the new database 'gnue'. Continue [y,N]: y Password: Password: CREATE USER Password: CREATE DATABASE readgsd: FATAL: Password authentication failed for user "gnue" For help, type: readgsd --help sh-3.1$ pwd /usr/share/gnue/appserver sh-3.1$ whoami postgres curt: hi curt: give me a second please reinhard, no problem, I'm just idling around here anyway .. checking back periodically. hmmm the second password is for the "gnue" user depending on your postgres security policy, you might want to add a "password = ...." line to connections.conf under [gnue] : first login to db is to create new user gnue second login to db is already with that new user, so the tables are created with an owner of "gnue" if you want the db user to be a different one, add a "user = ..." line to connections.conf in /etc/gnue/connections.conf I added password = gnue and I get 'Password authentication failed for user "postgres"' when I use 'gnue' for the third pass. I added user = postgres thinking I could use the existing pass for all three but oddly enough I get 'Password authentication failed for user "gnue"' .. must not be reading user = postgres .. I would guess that it's not reading password = gnue either then. hmm damn there was a bug with reading username and password from connections.conf at some point maybe debian still has that old version your machine is open for access from others? for testing I always allow passwordless connecting to postgres, as it saves all that trouble with the passwords *** derek__ has joined #gnuenterprise For the quick and dirty "full access" configuration, edit the file /etc/postgresql/pg_hba.conf and set host, db or user to 'trust'. To grant 'trusted' (full) access from the local host add a line like: host all all 127.0.0.1 255.255.255.255 trust (this is the "get this damn thing work, no matter how" way) *** derek__ has quit IRC other possibility would be to create the db and the user manually in postgres and then run the gnue-readgcd command manually with --user and --password options (which IIRC worked in the buggy version) must run, hopefully somebody else can help you if you have further problems otherwise I'll be back here tomorrow cu *** reinhard has quit IRC *** deke has joined #gnuenterprise *** deke has quit IRC *** deke has joined #gnuenterprise *** deke has quit IRC *** deke has joined #gnuenterprise *** deke has quit IRC *** deke has joined #gnuenterprise *** deke has quit IRC *** deke has joined #gnuenterprise *** deke has quit IRC *** btami has quit IRC *** johannesV_ has quit IRC *** deke has joined #gnuenterprise *** jamest has quit IRC *** derek has quit IRC *** sjc has joined #gnuenterprise *** SachaS is now known as SachaZzzz *** jcater has quit IRC *** deke is now known as derek *** klasstek has quit IRC *** derek has quit IRC *** sjc has quit IRC *** holycow has joined #gnuenterprise *** holycow has left #gnuenterprise *** derek has joined #gnuenterprise *** bigbrother` has quit IRC *** bigbrother` has joined #gnuenterprise *** llp has quit IRC
